Crop Climate Risk

Crop Climate Risk focusing on the first option, at the top, the settings panel is divided into three sections: Risk Selection (1), where the user can choose the type of risk (Drought, Cold, or Heat, with Drought selected in the example, Season Selection (2), allowing the definition of a starting and an ending date and Details (3), specifying the location, crop and elevation above sea level (ASL).

The Advanced Settings panel allows users to customize crop risk diagrams. It includes two subsections: GDD Calculation (4), where users set Base T, Limit T, and units for tracking plant development, and Risks (5), where users define drought, frost, and heat parameters. Users can also create custom stages (6) by naming them and specifying GDD, drought, frost, and heat impacts. The Submit button saves all changes.

If user wishes to generate data through crop climate risk, must complete the following :

  1. The kind of risk

  • Drought

  • Cold

  • Heat

  1. The starting and ending date.

  2. The Location, the kind of crop and the ASL.

  3. User, can also fill in the advanced Settings that includes the GDD calculation.

  4. The exact risks from Drought, Frost and Heat.

GDD Base T is the minimum temperature a plant needs for growth, below which it won't grow significantly. Limit T is the maximum temperature considered for growth, as higher temperatures don't increase growth. GDD (Growing Degree Days) measures the heat a plant receives each day, using temperatures between the Base T and Limit T to track development and guide farming decisions.

  1. Fill in Custom Stages that includes:

  • Stages Name

  • Stages GDD

  • Stages Impact Drought

  • Stages Impact Frost

  • Stages Impact Heat

  1. Drought and average growing degree days.
